It was homecoming at Northport High School and it was a classic eight-man football contest with Tekoa-Rosalia coming out on top 42-36. T-R got the scoring started with Gabe Naught catching a 42-yard touchdown pass from Larry Frick, which with the conversion led 8-0.
Northport cut the deficit to 8-6 on a five-yard pass from Kade Middlesworth to Williams, but in the second quarter Craig Mueller caught a 64-yard pass to push the lead up to 10 points. Responding quickly NHS got a 30-yard touchdown reception by Trenton Baribault to cut the Timberwolves lead to 16-14 at halftime. In the second half the scoring picked up, Frick scored on a one yard run and Naught caught his second touchdown of the day, this time from 40 yards out, but the Mustangs kept pace, answering each time, first on a five-yard run by Kade Middlesworth, and then on a 35-yard pass from Kade to Bowen Middlesworth, and the score was tied at 30 heading into the fourth quarter.
In that final 12 minutes T-R managed to open up a bit of a lead with back to back scores; a 44-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Weldy and two yard run by Frick put the Timberwolves up 42-30, but NHS wasn’t out of comebacks.
Kade Middlesworth’s one yard run late in the game made the score 42-36, but the Mustangs couldn’t recover the onside kick and T-R was able to run out the clock and escape with the win.

This week Northport (1-4, 0-2) will travel to Hunters and face the Columbia Lions (3-2, 1-2), kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
