A river runs high through it

Heavy rainfall around the Inland Northwest in the past week, combined with warming temperatures and heavy snowfall from an active winter, have created flooding issues and high stream flows around the region. This photo was taken last weekend at Avista Utilities Post Falls Dam. The dam on the Spokane River is located nine miles downstream from Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. It was constructed where the Spokane River branches into three separate channels. The development includes a dam in each channel. Besides producing electricity, the development affects water levels in Lake Coeur d’ Alene and parts of the Coeur d’ Alene, St. Joe and St. Maries rivers during the summer recreation season.
