Not all school teams practice in a gym or on a ball field. The Colville High School Equestrian Team practices at the Arden Arena, Northeast Washington Fairgrounds and Twin Willows in Deer Park. Practices start in January and run through May along with the meets.
The CHS Equestrian team operates under the Washington High School Equestrian Teams as District 1, as do Cheney, Mead, Davenport, Cascade, Reardan, Mt. Spokane, Wenatchee, Snokiam, Chelan, and Ephrata. The CHS Equestrian team competed at State in Moses Lake on May 13-14 and then the Canadian flags team made it to the Pacific Northwest Invitational Championships in Redmond, Oregon June 2 and 3.
Only the top five teams of Washington State and the top five teams of Oregon are a part of the Pacific Northwest Invitational.
Colville’s own Canadian Flags team placed fourth at the Pacific Northwest Invitational Finals. These kids competed with the best of the best in Washington and Oregon. Washington and Oregon schools range from B to 4A with no separation for the schools’ size. They are coached by Margie Sager & Mick Harris.
