Chewelah still in the hunt for District playoff spot

A pair of victories by the Jenkins High boys’ basketball team has placed the Cougars squarely in the hunt for a Northeast A League playoff spot.
Wins over Colville and Deer Park elevated the Cougars into a three-way tie for fifth place in the NEA with the Indians and Stags (all at 3-8) in league play.
With three games to go before the District 7 1A Tournament, Chewelah will probably need at least one more win and a little help to not have to worry about tiebreakers.
The Cougars (4-13, 3-8) will travel to Riverside (2-9, 3-13) on Tuesday, play Freeman (10-1, 14-3) on Friday and host Newport (6-5, 11-6) on Feb. 9 (Senior Night).
All games will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
