Susan Wilhoit

Susan Margaretta Wilhoit, a longtime resident of Colville, passed away on Dec. 3, 2013 in Spokane at the age of 67. She was born to James and Betty (Smith) Wilhoit in Santa Monica, CA. Susan moved to Colville in 1971.
Susan was a very loving person and cared deeply for her family. She loved being around her children and especially her grandchildren. Susan was a people person and it showed with her love of her job at Walmart for over 16 years. She also had a fondness for collecting dragons, owls and Pokemon cards that filled her home. Susan had a passion for baking lemon meringue pie. She also enjoyed Rock & Roll music, reading, making pottery, dancing, drawing, embroidering and astrology.
Susan was very caring person, never left out anyone and was fair to all. Later in life, she decided to go back to school and get a college education. Susan used that education to teach her grandchildren and was very good at it and the grandchildren enjoyed learning from her. She has always had a way with children and was a very simple person with a huge heart.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents and son, Shawn Owens.
She is survived by Scott Owens of Colville; Spirit Rohan and his wife, Becky of Colville; Ruby Sanders and husband, Troy of Colville; her sister, Summer (Patty) Hansen of Long Beach, CA; her brother, John Ruth of Long Beach, and numerous grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Susan will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the American Legion Hall in Colville starting at 2 p.m. There will be a potluck immediately following the celebration.
