Continuing to help you build your dreams

Merle Door & Window is under new ownership. Stan and Fran Boring both agreed it was time to retire and let the next family take over.

The new owner, Larry Christie, is now running the show with his son Kenny Christie, who is the General Manager.

Kenny worked at Merle for 18 months as an installer prior to this transition. One day Kenny heard Stan talking about how he was ready to sell and jumped on the opportunity.

Larry said, “it was a great business to buy.”

Larry has built two houses from the ground up and remodeled one. He’s also owned three businesses prior to this.

Kenny was born and raised in the area. He’s had on and off experience in installation and construction for 15 years before joining the Merle team.

As far as changes go, there aren’t many.

Kenny said they now offer financing.

The hours are changing to Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays by appointment only.

According to Kenny Sunday is a family day, so they will not be open or scheduling appointments then.

Besides that, Kenny said they’re going to keep the business the same.

None of the bookkeeping, installers and sales staff will be losing their job through this transition.

“They had a really good standing business in the community, we’re just continuing on with what they had going,” noted Kenny. “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.”

Fran Boring said Merle Door & Window has long supported the community, from Habitat for Humanity Colville Valley Partners to private projects like Casey McKern’s Pay It Forward.

The name Merle Door & Window, which has not changed since it was founded by Dick Merle in 1979, will remain the same. Other owners prior to the Borings were Ron Bruce, from 1989 to 1995, and Denny and Pat Neal, from 1995 to 2011.

Like Kenny, Stan Boring worked five years for the Neals before he bought the business.

Merle Door & Window offers more than just windows and doors, they do decking, garage doors, locks, siding and more.

While it may be under new ownership, Stan said the business will “continue to have the same exceptional service and installation.”
