Kettle Falls High softball coach RJ Glover wasn’t sure what to expect from a veteran team that had gotten only about an hour of real outside practice time in before traveling to Omak Friday afternoon for a non-league, season-opening doubleheader at Omak.

But Glover, who helped lead KFHS to a State 2B Tournament appearance last spring, was pleased with the early returns against a very good Class 1A Pioneers’ team.
Kettle Falls split the doubleheader, losing 6-1 and winning 21-1.

In the 6-1 loss to the Pioneers, Omak pitched the reigning Caribou League MVP against Kettle. The Lady Bulldogs managed only one run, a two-out single in the fourth inning by Nichole Tallman that plated Josie Nielsen.

Kettle is idle this week before heading into NE 2B play next week. KFHS will host league power Springdale on Tuesday, March 28 in a 2 p.m. doubleheader.

The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to host Republic in a single game (and one JV game) on Thursday, March 30. Start time is 3 p.m.
